Despicable Me 4

Review: The overall sixth entry in the Despicable Me/Minions franchise, I think this may be the second best film in the saga. Steve Carell is predictably great as Gru and Will Ferrell’s Maxime does provide the character a nice foil. Putting the Gru family in a different environment provided a nice fish out of water setting for the crew and I think always keeping a few Minions with Gru is always a good idea. The supporting voices of Kristen Wiig, Joey King, Sofia Vergera, Chloe Fineman, Steve Coogan, & Stephen Colbert, along with the voices of the girls: Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier, & Madison Polan fill out the ensemble very well. I also think Pierre Coffin never gets the credit he deserves for voicing the Minions.

High: It manages to have the same hilarity & comedic timing of the first few entries and doesn’t feel stale.

Low: The Mega Minions storyline was unnecessary, though slightly funny. It really was just a ploy to sell toys which I totally respect, but it added nothing really to the movie.
