Back in Action

Review: Nope not the 2003 family comedy movie ‘Looney Tunes: Back in Action’ starring Brendan Fraser & Steve Martin, but the 2025 action comedy ‘Back in Action’ starring Cameron Diaz & Jamie Foxx. I’ll say this. If you like action movies, you probably won’t love this movie. If you like comedy movies, you probably won’t love this movie. But if you like action comedy movies you will probably enjoy it a little. It has a blend of both, but not enough of either for fans of one genre in particular. Also featuring Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Jamie Demetriou, & Andrew Scott, the film features good dynamics between the various characters as well as solid performances from child actors, McKenna Roberts & Rylan Jackson.

High: Jamie Foxx is one of those actors that I always forget how good/funny he is until I watch him in something. And he was very solid in this film. He was very charming (duh), but also had a good amount of funny lines like saying he & Diaz are like Jason Bourne, but if they could remember stuff & when he said he could beat up all the other dads at school, ‘just not at the same time.’

Low: I mean it was incredibly predictable & not super memorable, but it wasn’t a bad outing. It is a Netflix release in January so the bar shouldn’t be super high. Other than being the return of Cameron Diaz, this film is one that will be lost in the sands of time.
