A Different Man
Review: Now streaming on Max, a very well made film about a man with neurofibromatosis who undergoes facial reconstruction surgery & ends up being discontented with his new life. Sebastian Stan has really gone on an interesting career arc and major props to him for that. This film is worth a watch & really handily deals with something our world so often neglects talking about or has a hard time doing. I’ve seen it may get some Oscar buzz so I may be talking about it more soon!
High: The performances of Sebastian Stan & Adam Pearson were fantastic. Stan is getting worthy praise and a well deserved Golden Globe, but I wish Adam Pearson was getting more love from awards shows for a supporting performance. I honestly feel like that helps highlight one of the points the movie was trying to convey, but I still wish he was getting some credit.
Low: The pacing of the first half of the movie felt way too slow but then the second half was very solid. I understand it narratively but I almost wish Oswald (Pearson) would’ve been introduced earlier because he was brilliant.
Rating: 8/10
