Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl
Review: This is just one of those films that is like so British. British folks love this dense bald man and his clever dog, and I kind of get it. This film was fun and solid first new watch of 2025. If you’re a fan of silly films, this would be right up your alley. The titular characters are silly. The side characters are silly. The premise is silly. And the massive inclusion of gnomes is silly. But it all works pretty well. The film is doing extremely well both with audiences & critics (currently sitting at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with critics & 96% with audiences). I did enjoy it, though I don’t know if it was quite THAT good.
High: Feathers McGraw was a brilliant villain. I have little experience with the Wallace & Gromit franchise aside from having seen the first feature film (Curse of the Were-Rabbit), but they quickly established McGraw. It may seem silly but they did a great job of making him such a threatening villain and his inability to speak worked really well.
Low: The low honestly is nothing to do with this film specifically, more the genre of claymatian. I can’t identify a reason I can put into words, but I just don’t really like claymatian that much. I think it’s incredibly impressive & I have a lot of respect for the filmmakers behind it, but it’s just not my jam.
