A Family Affair

Review: A fairly mid movie from Netflix, but a sweet one nonetheless. Halfway through I started questioning if it was a Christmas movie and if so why it was released onto the streaming platform in late June. I enjoyed a handful of one liners, mostly from Zac Efron and I enjoyed the bit of his character getting serious and dropping lines like ‘… so we killed him,’ & ‘… I had to sue them.’ My wife watched this with me and I asked her if she had any notes because I knew this would be a shorter review. She said ‘I like the soundtrack,’ then revoked that statement and said ‘well I like two of the songs on the soundtrack.’ And she also wanted me to share that she has the same duffle bag that Joey King’s character uses to take to the cabin. So there you go.

High: Good chemistry between Zac Efron & Nicole Kidman. It’s funny the random pairs of actors that can have great chemistry with each other. Like who’d’ve thought?

Low: I really don’t want to be mean, but I'm just not a fan of Joey King. I think she’s pretty funny in real life, but am rarely a fan of her acting work. And since she IS the protagonist of this movie, that’s a low for me. Not tryna hate though.

Rating: 5.5/10
