Toy Story 4

Review: I mentioned this in my review of ‘Toy Story 3,’ but the increase in animation from film to film just stuns me and that stands true with #4. Especially looking at the scenes that are outside (like Woody & Forky walking down the road) and ones featuring animals (like the cat in the antique shop). It’s a beautifully stunning film and although I don’t think it was necessary (3 just ended so well) it’s still a good, enjoyable movie. I’m interested to see where they go in ‘Toy Story 5’ because this movie feels very final, but I suppose the third did as well. At first it kind of rubs me the wrong way how in each movie Woody is so headstrong and stubborn, but by the end of the movie it’s endearing how determined he is.

High: While not as emotional as the third, this one still hits hard on the emotions and drew a tear from my eye with the ending. To infinity…

Low: I don’t love that the original toys, aside from Woody, took a backseat to characters like Gabby Gabby, Forky, Duke Caboom, and Bunny & Ducky. Those characters aren’t bad, but I was disappointed by the lack of use of the likes of Jessie, Bullseye, the Potato Heads, and even Buzz felt under used.
