Unaccompanied Minors
Review: Die Hard 2, but if instead of ex-military terrorists, its a very grumpy Lewis Black. And instead of John McClane, it’s a misfit crew of kids. This film was really fine, worth a watch if you’re looking for a Christmas comedy, but if you choose not to you’re not really missing out. I had a few random notes I wanted to touch on, like first and foremost, I really am convinced that the lead actor that played Spencer (Dyllan Christopher) might just be Jesse Eisenberg. It looked just like him. Also I thought the main ensemble of tweens was a solid cast of distinct characters. I think it’s funny that the character of Beef (Brett Kelly) was just doing his own thing the whole time. I also audibly cackled at the joke from the guards playing musical chairs but having an extra chair so they all just sat down. That was good stuff.
High: There was a handful of specific actors/characters that I thought really stood out, so I’ll highlight them here. I specifically enjoyed Tyler James Williams, Wilmer Valderrama, & Lewis Black’s roles. Each of them were stand outs, mainly comedically.
Low: I don’t think this film has aged super well. It just feels very early 2000s. On one hands this gives it an almost nostalgic aspect, but on the other it just makes the film feel pretty dated.
