Carry-On

Review: ‘Die Hard’ reborn. And that’s high praise because I absolutely love ‘Die Hard.’ Greatest action movie ever. One of the all-time best Christmas movies. I’ll get more into how similar it is in the High. This movie was gas. No pun intended. I think the fact Taron Egerton played not a cop, but a TSA Agent was pretty fun. To quote Rod from ‘Get Out,’ “They’re TS-mother explicative-A. They handle explicative. That's what they do. Consider this situation explicative handled.” I would highly recommend this, especially if you’re looking for a break from the typical Christmas film. Egerton was great. Jason Bateman was great. And the supporting cast of Sofia Carson, Danielle Deadwyler, Theo Rossi, Dean Norris, Sinqua Wells, Logan Marshall-Green, & Josh Brener all fit in really well.

High: This movie had everything a good action film needs just like ‘Die Hard.’ I foresee it to be both a classic action & Christmas film. It had good action fight sequences, a good villain, a good protagonist that leans much more into just the normal guy who gets put into a situation and does well. It genuinely had just about everything that I loved about Die Hard in a modern setting. And it was significantly better than Die Hard 2 which also takes place in an airport.

Low: I was uncomfortable seeing Jason Bateman as an ominous & analytical bad guy & not an awkward normal dude. His performance really was very good though and not at all the low, I just had to put something here. I also like that we really never learn anything about the antagonists.
