The Electric State
Review: The 13th most expensive movie ever made… and really this movie accomplished nothing. I didn’t laugh. I didn’t cry. I really didn’t feel any type of way about anything. It wasn’t even so bad it was good. This will be a pretty negative review, so let me just say this. This movie was not good, but it was not as bad as most reviews are/will make it seem. It’s not an all-time bad movie, it’s not even the worst movie I’ve watched this year. But it is bad. It was incredibly uninspired. The way that each character was presented as though it was characters we should already be familiar with and was this big moment (like it was trying to recreate the portals scene from ‘Avengers: Endgame’). It relied heavily on actor recognition or what I liked to call the ‘oh look it’s that guy’ factor. It felt very apparent that no actor was having fun or giving their all, but they were all just doing it for that check, which I totally respect. The ensemble had a stupid amount of talent that could never successfully fit into a film like this. The ensemble features Emmy, Oscar, & Golden Globe winners, certified blockbuster stars, and talent in so many areas. Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Woody Harrelson, Giancarlo Esposito, Stanley Tucci, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Jason Alexander, Colman Domingo, Alan Tudyk, Hank Azaria, Helen Hunt, & Holly Hunter. The ending speech from Millie Bobby Brown’s character was… rough. One plus is that the film ended on an instrumental version of ‘Wonderwall’ which sounded nice.
High: The high would have to be the effects, which really were pretty decent. Some of the character designs of the bots were better than subpar, though all the humans were rough. Anyways, like I said. Effects were decent.
Low: The fact that $320 million were put into this.
