Knox Goes Away
Review: In this crime thriller about Michael Keaton’s Aristotle Knox, a hitman who is diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a very fast-moving form of dementia. He decides to tie up some loose ends before making his great escape, but has to help his estranged son (James Marsden) along the way. I think this felt like an accurate, and surprisingly, respectful depiction of dementia. I’m a big fan of James Marsden and this was a very different role than I’ve typically seen him in. Also, my eyes see Al Pacino. I know isn’t classified as an action film, but I really think it could’ve benefited from maybe just one more action scene.
High: The execution of Knox’s plan was really well done and the way they had it unfold was pretty good.
Low: The dialogue was pretty poorly written. In a film that was mostly dialogue and conversations, the writing was just so subpar.
