John Wick

Review: I’m not a Keanu Reeves fan. Now he has a couple movies I like, but the worst part of them (in my opinion) is Keanu. I just don’t think he’s a skilled actor. He’s stale and monotone. But man can this dude play John Wick. A role that was literally made for him. I have previously avoided these just because I don’t like Keanu but the first was fantastic. I’m excited for the next three. So many aspects of the filmmaking side of this work so well. It has believable & memorable action. The camera work is awesome. Something small, but I really like how the captioning fits into the film stylistically when non-English languages are being spoken. And there’s really nothing that can immediately turning you against a character than by killing a cute little puppy.

High: I think what most people love about these films is that Wick is skillful & cool, but he still takes hits. Like so many hits. He’s not untouchable which somehow makes this character in this crazy word seem grounded. I also love how the movie starts & he’s already so established.

Low: I mean if we’re all just being real, the acting in the first film is not good. Like at all. The effects are also a little spotty in certain places. But it truly doesn’t matter. The film & its characters still work.
