Dream Scenario
Review: Nicolas Cage makes me feel awkward anytime I watch him. At least this time that was the goal (I think). Cage plays an unlikable, uncomfortable protagonist, who is extremely pitiful, so credit to him. Overall I found this movie… okay. The relationship between Paul & Janet was interesting. I really enjoyed the supporting roles of Michael Cera & Tim Robinson and also through the cameos of Noah Centineo, Josh Richards, Amber Midthunder & Nicholas Braun were perfectly cast. It was also impressive how many genres were dipped into: comedy, drama, satire, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, thriller, romance.
High: The concept is elite. Such a fun, cool idea that feels fresh. For people that complain about sequels, prequels, remakes, & reboots and want original content, I would recommend this film. It definitely bleeds A24.
Low: With how good the concept is, the movie is, like I said, just okay. I think so many more things could’ve been done with this idea, to the point it may have even worked as a limited series. I felt like we barely touched the tip of the iceberg.
