Road House
Review: The genre of ‘low-key’ action movie where there’s not too many Mission: Impossible style stunts or crazy car chases, but just some good all fashioned dudes beating each other up. Nothing wrong with that. A solid film, it accomplished its goal of low brain power entertainment (that’s a compliment). Jake Gyllenhaal was a fairly charismatic, morally grey protagonist and the supporting cast all played their parts well.
High: The fight choreography was exquisite, which is honestly all you could ask for from this movie. Odds are, you’re going into it for good fights, and it delivers.
Low: I love comedic undertones in any genre of movie, but it felt a little overdone here. I think both Gyllenhaal & Conor McGregor had some funny moments, but at times it felt almost goofy.
