Sasquatch Sunset

Review: In this 2024 film from the Zellner Brothers, Jesse Eisenberg & Riley Keough are unrecognizable in full Sasquatch make-up and communicating only in grunts. This is a weird film. But in a great way. The film doesn’t have much of a plot, instead just showing various scenes involving the hairy family throughout different seasons. We only see 4 characters, all of whom are Sasquatches. There is no dialogue or even any discernible words aside from the song ‘Love to Hate You.’ The make-up works great for the movie, and is in a similar vain to ‘Harry and the Hendersons’ & those Jack Links commercials with Bigfoot, just to a higher degree. And boy there was a lot of pee in this movie. Like so much pee. I really hope the ‘squatch hunter’ from ‘Finding Bigfoot’ watched this movie and felt seen. Also, the SPOILERS deaths were surprisingly powerful, especially that of Eisenberg’s male.

High: This is an incredibly relaxing film. The scenery was very serene. The whole movie reminds me of one of those YouTube TV ads that says ‘enjoy the zen.’ And I mean that with the utmost respect. The whole film is very demure. I don’t think that was proper use of that word, but I’m just trying to relatable to the youngins.

Low: I will say I did find myself getting distracted and had a hard time paying attention. It couldn’t keep my full focus and it feels more like a film to have on in the background. Again, no offense.
