Mt. Rushmore- Anne Hathaway

One of the most beloved actresses of the 21st century, Anne Hathaway is a worthy candidate to have her top four most iconic roles highlighted in a Mt. Rushmore. She has many honorable mentions I’d like to honorably mention including: Ella of Frell in ‘Ella Enchanted,’ Lureen Newsome Twist in ‘Brokeback Mountain,’ Kym Buchanan in ‘Rachel Getting Married,’ The White Queen in ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ Catwoman in ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ & most recently, Solène Marchand in ‘The Idea of You.’

Andy Sachs in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’- Kicking us off we have what is easily one of the most iconic films in Hathaway’s filmography. In it she plays a young woman who gets a job working as an executive assistant and finds herself coming face to face with her difficult to navigate boss, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). Though Priestly is the obvious stand out character of the film, Andy brings a realistic side to show how most normal people would react in the situation she finds herself in.

Fantine in ‘Les Misérables’- Next up is Hathaway’s Oscar-winning performance in the 2012 film adaptation of the iconic musical. She plays a prostitute dying of tuberculosis in a role that showed most audiences her singing chops (though many learned of this in 2004 with ‘Ella Enchanted’). Though she already had many critically acclaimed films under her belt, as well as a prior Oscar nomination, this solidified her in the upper tier of stars.

Dr. Amelia Brand in ‘Interstellar’- This is easily the most controversial pick here. I’m sure many folks think I should’ve gone with another of her early roles, or some may think I should’ve gone with her other Nolan team up (‘The Dark Knight Rises’), but honestly I just love ‘Interstellar’ too much. She takes on a supporting role here as scientist Amelia Brand, the daughter of Professor John Brand (Michael Caine) who is in charge of finding anew planet for humans to colonize.

Mia Thermopolis in ‘The Princess Diaries’- Last but certainly not least is Hathaway’s breakout role. She returned to the role in a sequel that is equally iconic. Starring as a young girl who has royalty thrust upon her when she learns her deceased father was the heir apparent to the kingdom of Genovia. She must learn how to become a princess from her grandmother, Queen Clarisse (Julie Andrews) and by the second film she ascends the throne herself.
