Actors You Forgot Were in Harry Potter

I just finished my annual rewatch of the Harry Potter films and it inspired me to right this article. Now the title of this is deceiving, as its really 10 actors you may not have even known were in the films because they are background characters or their faces are never seen on screen. However there are 1 or 2 that played supporting roles & are just much more well known names now.

Regé-Jean Page- The actor known for his role as the Duke of Hastings in season 1 of Bridgerton made an uncredited appearance in ‘Deathly Hallows- Part One’ as a guest at the wedding of Fleur Delacour & Bill Weasley. I’m inserting pictures below, so check out the shot of Page before he was a star.

Julianne Hough- Another actress who played an uncredited part in Harry Potter before becoming a household name was dancer & actress, Julianne Hough. She appears in ‘The Sorcerer’s Stone’ as a Gryffindor student cheering on the team during a Quidditch match. Though mostly known as a dancer, Hough has appeared in films such as ‘Footloose,’ ‘Safe Haven,’ & ‘Dirty Grandpa.’

Derek Hough- Julianne’s big brother, Derek, also played a background role as a Ravenclaw student in ‘The Sorcerer’s Stone,’ and can be seen when Hermione enters the Great Hall before the Christmas holiday. Again known more as a dancer, especially for his tenure as a six-time winner & judge on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ Hough has acted in small roles, including an appearance in ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.’ Hough’s close friend Mark Ballas also appeared as an extra, but his scenes were mostly cut.

Michelle Fairley- Before playing the mother of the five Stark children in ‘Game of Thrones,’ the Northern Irish actress had a non-speaking role as Hermione’s mother at the beginning of ‘Deathly Hallows- Part One.’

Hero Fiennes Tiffin- The nephew of Ralph Fiennes, who played Lord Voldemort, Fiennes Tiffin played a younger version of the character during flashbacks in ‘The Half-Blood Prince.’ The actor would rise to notability when he played the role of Hardin Scott in the ‘After’ film series on Netflix.

Jamie Campbell Bower- An actor who has now appeared in many big franchises, Bower briefly played a young Gellert Grindelwald in ‘Deathly Hallows- Part One’ that is seen in flashbacks during the hunt for the Elder Wand. Bower reprised the role in one scene in ‘Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald’ and has since starred in the ‘Twilight’ franchise, ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones,’ & ‘Stranger Things.’

Tom Ackerley- The British film producer who would go onto marry Margot Robbie and produce films like ‘I, Tonya,’ ‘Barbie,’ & ‘Saltburn’ played a role as an extra in the first three films, and can be seen being pushed out of the way by Draco Malfoy before he approaches Buckbeak in ‘The Prisoner of Azkaban.’

Henry Lloyd-Hughes- The actor who had a recurring role in ‘The Inbetweeners’ as Mark Donovan made an appearance in ‘The Goblet of Fire’ as Roger Davies, Fleur Delacour’s date to the Yule Ball.

Verne Troyer- The actor known for playing Mini-Me in the ‘Austin Powers’ franchise was also the original actor under the make up of the goblin, Griphook in ‘The Sorcerer’s Stone.’ Warwick Davis provided the voice for the character & took over the role entirely later on in the series.

Julian Glover- A legendary British actor & recipient of the Laurence Olivier Award, Glover appeared in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ as General Veers, ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ as Walter Donovan, & more recently in ‘Game of Thrones’ as Grand Maester Pycelle. He appeared (vocally) in ‘The Chamber of Secrets’ voicing Hagrid’s pet acromantula, Aragog.
